THE BAG HABIT CARE GUIDE
Love it now.
Carry it longer.
A little care goes a long way. Different materials need different attention, so we’ve put together a few simple ways to help keep your favourite bags looking their best.
Avoid prolonged exposure to water, moisture and humidity.
Give your bag space and support its natural shape between wears.
Avoid harsh chemicals, rough surfaces and unnecessary friction.
THE EVERYDAY BASICS
Small habits.
Big difference.
Bags are made to be carried, but a few simple habits can help preserve their appearance over time.
Avoid prolonged contact with water, oils, perfumes, cosmetics and other liquids.
Be mindful of rough surfaces that may scratch, scuff or catch delicate materials and hardware.
Avoid overfilling your bag, as excessive weight can place stress on handles, straps, closures and the bag’s shape.
Take extra care when wearing light-coloured bags with dark or heavily dyed clothing, as colour transfer can occur.
When possible, give frequently worn bags a rest between uses to help maintain their shape and finish.
LEATHER
Let the leather
be leather.
Genuine leather is a natural material. Variations in grain, texture, tone and surface appearance can be part of its character rather than an imperfection.
With use, some leather styles may soften and develop subtle changes in appearance over time.
CARING FOR LEATHER
Gently wipe away light surface dust with a clean, soft, dry cloth.
If the leather becomes wet, gently blot excess moisture and allow it to air dry naturally away from direct heat.
If using a leather care product, make sure it is suitable for the specific leather and test it discreetly first.
Avoid radiators, hair dryers and prolonged direct sunlight, which may affect the leather’s appearance or finish.
SUEDE
Soft texture.
A softer touch.
Suede has a beautifully soft surface, but its texture can make it more sensitive to moisture, oils, staining and friction.
Try to keep suede away from rain and liquids whenever possible. Avoid rubbing marks aggressively, as this can affect the nap and appearance of the material.
OTHER MATERIALS
Every finish
has its own character.
Bag Habit collections can include woven materials, textiles, embellished finishes, synthetic materials, metallic details and other specialty surfaces.
Because these finishes can respond differently to cleaning, avoid using strong household cleaners, solvents or abrasive products unless they are specifically suitable for the material.
For embellished or textured bags, take particular care around jewellery, rough clothing and surfaces that could catch, scratch or loosen decorative details.
HARDWARE & CHAINS
It’s all in
the details.
Chains, clasps, buckles and other hardware are part of what gives a bag its character.
To help protect their finish, keep hardware away from perfumes, lotions, harsh cleaning products and prolonged moisture.
When storing chain bags, position the chain carefully so it does not press heavily into or scratch the surface of the bag.
If your bag has a long chain or strap, tuck or position it gently when storing rather than tightly wrapping it around the bag.
BETWEEN WEARS
Give it a good
place to rest.
How you store a bag can be just as important as how you carry it.
Remove unnecessary weight and anything that could leak, stain or press against the interior.
Loosely fill the bag with clean, soft material where needed to help maintain its natural silhouette.
Store in a cool, dry place away from prolonged direct sunlight, excessive humidity and heat.
Avoid crushing bags together or placing heavy objects on top of them for extended periods.
A NOTE ON NATURAL MATERIALS
Perfectly
individual.
Natural materials can vary from one piece to another. Subtle differences in grain, texture, colour and surface character can occur, particularly with genuine leather and suede.
These variations are part of the individual character of the material.
